Spay and Neuter
At LazyPaw Animal Hospitals, we believe in providing the utmost care for your pet.
As a pet owner you know how cute, adorable, smart and amazing your dog or cat really is. You may even have friends that have told you that they would love to have a kitten or a puppy if your dog was the Mom or Dad. Unfortunately what people say and what they do is often two different things. Plus, to make things more difficult, you may be looking at having to get rid of eight to twelve or more puppies or kittens, which for unregistered pets is often virtually impossible to do. In fact there are an estimated six to eight million unwanted puppies and kittens turned in to rescues and shelters every year in the United States alone.
Spaying or neutering your pet is the only way to prevent many different health related risks besides unplanned pregnancies and litters. Males and females that are spayed or neutered have a lower risk of developing many different types of diseases, including cancers of the respective reproductive systems. In addition female dogs and cats can experience a potentially life threatening condition known as Pyometra, which is a bacterial infection in the uterus.

Behavioral problems can also be completely avoided with spaying and neutering. If you don’t want your young male dog to start marking territory on the legs of your favorite chair or to start to act more aggressive then early neutering is the answer. For females early spaying prevents her from becoming an escape artist from the home or yard and also prevents the rather messy and nasty experience of her going into heat.
Spaying and neutering is not cruel to your pet and will not result in your pet becoming lazy, fat or uninterested in life. Instead you can safely take your pet anywhere at anytime without having to worry about hormonally driven behaviors or having to deal with an unplanned pregnancy. You also will have a much happier pet that is more content to stay at home and far less likely to roam and wander.
At LazyPaw Animal Hospitals we encourage all pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered as soon as possible. And, in case you were wondering, we do provide an ecollar for your pet when they leave us to go home with you. The ecollar is a state of the art technology that will prevent your pet from licking at the incision site, allowing faster healing and much less risk of trauma and complications. Give us a call or use the online appointment scheduler to set an appointment before you get issues you don’t want to deal with.

If you're looking for the best care possible for your pet, you won't find a better place than LazyPaw. Because I'm a disabled veteran, I rely heavily on my service dog on a daily basis so I need my dog to be healthy and reliable. Not only do they provide excellent care at a very nice facility, but their friendly staff and their veterinarians have gone out of their way on several occasions when my dog became very ill and have even stayed open late on a weekend to help me get my documents in order to take my dog out of the country. I have also seen LazyPaw at many events because they believe in being a part of their community and helping others. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. If you love your dog as much as I love mine, then I wouldn't see why you would even consider going anywhere else than LazyPaw. Dr. Lenz has been my veterinarian for the past six years, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. I have two poodles, now 14 and 15, and she has provided them with exceptional care every step of the way. We’ve been through some very challenging times, but Dr. Lenz’s dedication, compassion, and expertise have always pulled us through. It’s clear she is in this profession for all the right reasons - she genuinely cares. I truly can’t imagine a better veterinarian to entrust with my pets’ health. If you’re looking for someone who will treat your animals like her own, Dr. Lenz is the one. Highly recommend! tj thompsonOctober 30, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Been with this veterinarian many years! Always very satisfied T!
